"What The Hell Is Going On Here... A 79th Card?"

What the hell is going on here... a 79th card? Something seems to be inscribed on the back of it -- it looks like it says:

"IT is commonly assumed that on some given occasion in prehistoric times, the basic mythological ideas were 'invented' by a clever old philosopher or prophet, and ever afterward 'believed' by a credulous and uncritical people. It is said that stories told by a power-seeking priesthood are not 'true,' but merely 'wishful thinking.' But the very word 'invent' is derived from the Latin invenire, and means to 'find' and hence to find something by 'seeking' it. In the latter case the word itself hints at some foreknowledge of what you are going to find."

Forgive my caprice, dear readers (and I know you're out there -- this weekend I learned from watching Julie & Julia that the process of registering a name at blogspot instantly bestows you with a devoted following of readers and commentors. [I also learned that I have way more sex than Julie Powell. {You probably do too.}]).

I have finally finished my second full cycle of 78 cards! I'm going to take a very short break before resuming my regular posts, but in the meantime, keep coming back to this post -- every day I'll be posting a new quote from Carl Jung's Man And His Symbols, a seminal work in which Jung relates his theories about psychology, dreams, and mythology in terms that even grubs like you and I can understand. Daily Jung quotes are better than rosemary lemonade when it comes to surviving the dog days of summer! Bookmark this link and come back for more whenever you need refreshment.

When I return things are going to be different around here. How different? You'll just have to wait and see. Okay, here's a hint -- in the next cycle of cards, readers are going to be more involved in a brand new way. And I'm going to be revealing more of my own experiences as they relate to the cards as well. This fall, Arcanalogue is going to be the "Must-See TV" of the Tarot blog world, so don't forget to come back and check on me. Bon Appetit!
