I selected some of these fables because of how perfectly they dovetail with a certain card's traditional meaning or imagery. In several cases, though, the fable zigs where the Tarot zags, resulting in an combination that reads a bit like a reversed (or upside down) card.
The Temperance card seems to have been designed explicitly to counter Aesop's message. It's as if our angel heard the pots' conversation, walked out across the water to retrieve them, and then proceeded to show them how to keep company, uniting them in a common purpose while holding them delicately apart, meanwhile judging the strengths and weaknesses of each.
This card actively encourages experimenting with seemingly opposite qualities, blending them to see what will emerge. Are the they truly at odds, or do they represent two extremes on the same scale? Often you will find that the strong and the weak may keep very good company indeed, may even become indistinguishable from each other. Or perhaps the term "strong" will prove subjective to the point of becoming utterly meaningless.
Whatever the results of this process, no important discoveries (whether personal or scientific) would be possible without it.
