A fairly self-explanatory read for the Emperor card, which itself encourages the exertion of authority, wealth, judgment, and reason. You could substitute any of those words into the moral and still be thinking like an emperor: "______ unused might as well not exist." No one who sets out to build an empire ever knows peace for more than a few days at a time; each new campaign carries forward into the next one, and so forth until the last proud, ragged breath.
If the miser had begun investing his gold as he earned it, perhaps he'd be a mighty nobleman by now. Of course there's always the chance he would have lost everything along the way. But since he did anyway, it was hardly a risk he couldn't afford to take.
